BR(S) Cast iron SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE from Bulleid Pacific "MANSTON".  The Loco, as 21C170, emerged from Brighton Works in November 1947 and thus became the last locomotive to be built on the SR before Nationalisation. Initially allocated to Ramsgate then Stewarts Lane, Ashford and Exmouth Junction from where it was withdrawn in July 1964 and sent to Barry. It was rescued from Barry in 1983 and is currently located at Swanage. The Smokebox number offered is its original BR plate which was cut down to fit around the top lamp bracket and subsequently broke across the centre due to the removal of part of the top flange. Repaired with a bit of scrap from the Works it was carried until withdrawal in 1964. Unrestored condition.
